"Captain Fly" is a great old-school DJ who hypnotizes his listeners every Saturday morning in Washington, D.C. He takes us on a soulful train mash across Washington, D.C. His inspirations are Orson Welles and James Brown. This man has a ton of soul and worked closely with James Ingram in years past. Fly's train stops at Ben's Chili Bowl and The Howard Theatre where we learn about Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and "Miss Ray"--- Raynoma Gordy Singleton, a musical genius who helped found Motown and started historic Shrine Records in Washington. This short film is dedicated to Raynoma.
(Part 2....Check out Part 1 of "The Train" with D.C.'s Captain Fly). Captain Fly is the radio personna of Robert Frye, WPFW, Pacifica Radio, Washington, D.C.
Great job at capturing a forgotten piece of DC's R&B history. The legendary Captain Fly is the perfect tour guide. You should make a documentary with him for PBS or VH1.
