This is the Florida East Coast Railway Bascule Bridge raising minutes after a CSX freight train rolled over it travelling West.

Thanks for posting. I have an engineering project where a team (myself included) of people have to build a functional model of a moveable bridge- could I use your videos for the "company's" "commercial"? We would be sure to give you proper credit.

@FailDoctor Thanks for having such an interest in these bridges. I see no problem with you using this video for a project. Sure, you may use my video. I've been looking at these bascules for two years now trying to figure out how to put one in my hallway for my Lionel engines and trains so I can get in and out of my bedroom. Have fun counter-weighting it. (I keep thinking sand in a container; you can add and subtract as needed). =^.^=

@FailDoctor Hi, I recently uploaded this exact same video , again, except that is the true 1080i. It's 20080718134444.m2ts, go to my channel;  where my uploads are. I thought if you're going to use that video, you should at least have quality. Also, don't forget the other angles I recorded AND the other Youtube person "fusedglass01" recorded a similar angle shot to the Bascule; his recording is so much better. He edited it and layed some great music to his video while it was lowering. =^.^=

We have a bascule bridge here in Tampa over the Hillsborough river but it is permanently raised. It has been up since I moved here 21 years ago. Nice to see one of these in motion. Thanks for the post.

I had forgotten that anyone would even find some of my videos about such mundane / important infrastructures.

I'll get down there in Tampa and film that Bascule Rail Bridge.

Here's a cool thing to do in Google Earth; it's the Latitude / Longitude for that bridge: 27°57'00" N, 82°27'52" W ( you'll have to copy and paste the coordinates ) The Lat / Lon for this works fine; even with the degrees symbol.

Yeah, if 90° is Vertical, the Strauss Bascule is about 82° It will travel a little more. 45­° is normal. Saint John's River flows north (not because Georgia sucks) Can't help: I live in Gainesville, FL, you know "Home of the Gators"
