@ryanburbridge You only did basic strip. 'Mr Expert' took it down to all pins, springs, hammer, mainspring, safety and housing. You have to know how to do for big mods. 'Mr Expert' sat in tears with a tray of parts without instructions. My texts showed me Browning design and how certain parts were made as tools. This is the Browning 1911 heritage...a gun whose parts were made as maintainance tools and never duplicated ever again. There are DVDs that now teach all. +++ for your basics. Grace

@peterann1 hey bud check out my NO TOOLS 1911 vid. you will see me do what you did lol

I once went beyond this disassembly procedure leaving a pile of parts in tears to take to NYPD gunsmith, I read WHB Smith to learn Browning designed this gun to use parts for tools and put it back together in minutes with a mainspring scratch. I do not reccomend going farther than what you displayed.

@resignify M1911a1 was a military designation for the 1911 they altered to better suite what they wanted. My serial numbers date my pistol back to 1916, prior to the m1911a1. Though the previous owner did put a different main spring housing and trigger in it to give it an appearance similar to the a1. The sights are and guide rod are both different from the a1. (3 dot sight, and group gripper guide rod). Thanks for watching.
