Does the ewi4000 have a vocoder in it? I purchased one but , I was told you have to down load the vocoder?

yo bernie you sound awesome. hey i have an ewi hooked up to my electrix and i am able to get the vocoder effect going with the mic. my problem is that when i increased the gain on the breath sensitivity on the ewi it now drones on and on. it plays even when i don't want it to and i haven't figured out how to fix it. how did you deal with this issue?

Does anyone know if there is cheaper Ewis with the self oscillate modes? I got the 4000s but i wanna use that normal while performing and get an extra one just for vocoder. berniesax u got any idea?

I use a second EWI 4000s just set up for self oscillation when I use my vocoder on live gigs. Try and find and good deal on a used or refurbished one.

Vocoders are based of on gates and filters. You need a source and a formant. In this case the EWI with breath sensor set to self oscillate is the source audio going into the vocoder. Plug a mic into the formant and your voice triggers the EWI sounds. Remember, the most important thing is to set the wind controller to self oscillate by turning up the wind/breath sensor gain. Hope this helps.
