you could probably make a case that fatina was just temporarily substituting jil into her life because neeba abandoned her, and vice versa with jil, fatina and kaaya
gonzo probably just didn't have enough time to plan out the whole romantic subplot, considering there was only around 20 episodes of plot in the whole show
