This video shows my very first set of tests with using Polycarbonate Plastic filament for printing on a RepRap Prusa Mendel.

  • Hi Nathan

Yes, I'm in a well ventilated space. I have PTFE as the thermal break (Cool end) and also wrapped around the heating block

I have been using it at 265 Degrees C with ABS for many weeks and higher with PC, and have not yet seen any degrading of the PTFE, it is all very well cooled with a small fan.

My hot end design is on my blog, see August.

The PEEK block stays below 40 degrees C at all times.

  • Where did you get a polycarbonate filament?

  • I am wondering about your hot-end. You're working way above 260°C, which is the temperature at which PTFE starts giving off some very nasty gases.

What is your hotend built from? Do you have more information?
