callouses come and go depending on how much you play your string instrument. They help a lot and ease the pain although it hurts quite a bit to get them at first. Take it from a bassist.
This sounds beautiful, but I just cant afford one of these D: I've been playing both acoustic and electric guitar for 7 years, piano for 2 years, and other assorted instruments for a year or two (Violin, Harmonica, Accordion, Cello, tried to learn Trumpet but failed) This sounds so relaxing and I would love to learn to play music like this, but where am I gonna get 2000 dollars =/
id have to disagree with this. it all depends on the person. i borrowed my friends Chapman stick for quite some time and became proficient at it and being an accomplished guitar player before hand helped me pick it up rather quickly. its more of an open mindset and a willingness to learn than anything
I'm a guitar player; I thought moving to a Stick would be easy. I use both hands at the same time with a guitar, right? But you don't fret a note and then sound it, like a guitar. The note sounds as you fret it. Tha fact that I sometimes hammered-on with my guitar is no preparation. When you use both hands on the Stick, you're playing two lines. Like a piano, not at all like a guitar. I've got so I can play OK with my right, but my left is clumsy as hell.
