Seems like he was malnourished from the start judging by how lumpy his shell is. Their carapace should be smooth and not have pronounced ridges or pyramids like this one did. danlelle26 (Baby Sulcata carrying lettuce) has some vids of her tortie (same type yours was) showing healthy shell development if you are curious what to look for next time you invest in a sulcata

it walks normaly???

@senaykorkut1 : you can get it checked out prefferebly so no infections settle in. pyramiding is the abnormally growing apperance of the torts shell, due to lack of calcium, UVB/UVA lighting, alot of natural sunlight and high reptile formula with lots of calcium.

he seems dehydrated probly due to the infection, sry for your loss. RIP.

@efciem hey i just brought 2 russian tortoises and im starting to worry about one of them because her shell has minor cracks is she growing or is it just bad and also what does pyramiding do?
-
my tortoise ziggy had the same thing and he died :( now we have mr t and hes growing really fast , i think hel be hibernating next year all winter hes been lazy and not eating every day.....my boys growing up lol
-
aw thats so sad :( how can i prevent this from my tortoise?
-
Actually, that's pyramiding and given the age of the tort, the owner is solely responsible due to a bad diet and bad living conditions.
-
No its just you.

Is it me or there's quite a bit of pyramiding for such a young sulcata?
That isnt funny, plus its disturbing.

Unfortunately, Our little guy never recovered from his paracite infection. He likely had it since well before we got him. last week after yet another vet visit.. he passed on.
diagnosis was MBD due to severe lack of nutrients likely from the heavy paracite infestation. Even though we got treatment for him starting within a week of our getting him.. the vets couldnt get his appetite / activity level up to where it needed to be.

Turns out He had worms, even though vet visit 2 weeks before with a fecal exam came back negative. he's just received his 2nd dose of Panicure and he's doing better. Still sleepy/lethargic but when we can get him active he moves MUCH better. and perks up when he's outside. So improving slowly. Thanks for asking!
