In my last post, I tried to explain the genesis of my interests in thinking about digital writing practices and technologies. I promised that I'd demonstrate some of those interests and that thinking with some of the very writing technologies that I myself use. So here it is.

Here's what I used to put together this video and blog entry:

Hardware

Video Camera (for the introduction)
External Mic (for the screen capture audio)

Software

Camtasia Studio (for screen capture)
Adobe Premier (for video editing and production)
YouTube (for hosting and distributing the video)
WordPress (my blogging platform software)
Creative Commons (to create a license which allows you, or anyone else, to take, alter, remix, redistribute, praise, or hate-on this video for attributed, non-commercial purposes)

  • Ugh. Not a great mic on that digital cam. And also, can I make the lighting any darker with the intro?

  • That is not working on your Dissertation. That is ducking work on your Dissertation. I know, I was a pro at that for a time. Good luck.

  • Great content, but I feel like the camera is peering through a stained glass window at you. If you can't do any better with the quality, it might be worth going with a screencast. screenr or screencast-o-matic
