She opened her mouth and I knew what was coming

"ok just making sure I mean you know that I know were just friends always have been...always well be!" she said and I looked over at her and she winked a little causing my heart to practically stop and than start racing like crazy!

"Yeah" I said and than I looked over at her again
"I mean your great Al but were well I mean you know actually Al-"

"I know Nick I'm no Cassie...you don't have to explain reasons for us being just friends thats how I want it..." she said and I glanced over at her and back at the road.
Then there was awkward silence...I didn't know what to say and what did she mean she was no Cassie? She was twice as great as any Cassie...and I wanted to tell her that, a few seconds ago I wanted to tell her I think I really like my "just friend" but she interupted me...something always interupted me!
I let out a sigh a little louder than I meant too.

"you okay?" she asked and I looked over at her sitting in my passenger seat looking as perfect as ever...she smiled looking over at me and than back out the window...man she was so perfect and amazing and man was I crushing...I could tell her... but instead all I got out was

"I'm great and your about to loose at bowling" I said lightly pushing her elbow with mine.

-next day-
(Kay)
I stood looking in the mirror.
My face had a slight bruise that you could only see if I didn't have make up on.
I looked closer at it barely touching it, a little makeup and no one would notice it except me at least I hoped. I had spent most of last night hoping it wouldn't swell up or something while I was out bowling.
Dave was asleep on the couch when I got home and when I got up this morning he had already left for work, I sat down at the kitchen table alone now when I heard Jeremy come down the stairs. I looked up from my cereal as he walked towards me sitting down at the table.

"Good morning" I said and he smiled a little grabbing a bowl off the counter.

"Where have you been?" I asked after a few minutes of silence.

"Away..." he said and I looked at him for more of an answer. "theres only so much a person can take of Dave...at least the new Dave" he said pouring his cereal.
I slid the milk across the table at him and he took it pouring it in his bowl.

"I told him about my job and losing it and than we got in this huge fight and I left..." he looked up at me now and than shrugged

"Sorry kiddo I shouldn't of" he said and I shook my head back and forth standing up and putting my bowl in the sink, I turned around looking at Jeremy. I felt really bad for him and I reliezed I wasn't the only one who lost my parents and my brother.

"Nah its good to get away" I said and he looked over at me

"Everything okay with Dave?" he asked and I nodded and smiled

"I mean he's still dr-"

"I know..." he said and I looked down

"I gotta go" I said picking up my bag off the kitchen floor.

"Hey Kay" Jeremy said standing up as I started to walk away.

"Dave's just-"

"I know" I said and he nodded pulling me into a hug. He pulled away and sat back down.

I walked towards the door taking a deep breathe, why did life have to be so...so well I guess like life.

I walked into the school and headed straight for the office. I wanted to go to the dance with Joe and have a good time, and it wasn't until last night when he dropped me off that I reliezed that I had been informed to stay away from school activities until prom.
I waited until the principal walked in and eyed me suspciously.

"Its a little early in the morning to be in trouble isn't it Miss Norcom?" he asked lowering the papers in his hand.

"Actually I was wondering if I could go to the dance friday" I asked quickly
He looked confused and than kind of glanced around

"You said no school act-"

"Yes I know what I said" he interupted and I looked down at my feet, why did I even bother...

"Miss Norcom you have been well behaved so I believe that if you can continue-"

"I can" I said trying to sound like I was agreeing but I totally wanted to tell him once again that none of that stuff was my fault in this first place but I just stood there...

"Alright" he said and walked past me into his office, yes! I hurried out of the office and down the halls until I found Joe at his locker. I hurried towards him and he turned to see me and I smiled

"I can go!" I said and he smiled this huge smile and gave me a hug, which would have been perfect if I hadn't of flinched a little cause the side of my face where the bruise was hit his.

"Sorry" he said pulling away and than he looked at the side of my face and back to me for an answer.

"No I..I hit my face and its a little soar" I said which wasn't a lie... I did hit my face on Daves fist...

"Really?" Joe asked eyeing me somewhat suspciously.
