Zo mooi! Zo verschrikkelijk mooi.

@gerubach72 : .... and 2/3 of his own children...
-
@1:45 - Yeah! Bach did lose something: His parents at age 10!

At about 1:00 there is a version of the Aria from the Goldberg Variations played by an organ and a Cello (or viola' da gamba?) being played. If anyone knows anything about it please let me know.

Certainly a major aspect of the special Romantic character of Baroque is that it's played on original instruments, even though, I gather, they are more difficult to play and somewhat more limited.

I couldn't agree more. I have been listening very intensively to JSB's music since 1993 and the sheer depth never ceases to amaze me.
I wish Koopman was my next door neighbor. He seems the sort of kindly, humbled genius who would engage you for hours in riveting conversation.

This Cantata is so utterly moving. The way it builds stronger and stronger is pure Bach. It boggles the mind how one man could have written so much, so beautiful music.
