no because without the death penalty we would have life without parol for criminals which is expensive.. we would have homicide rates tripled like in the 1960s and 1970s.. and prisons would be over populated

would u want us to build more prison facilities in the US? perhaps next to schools and neigborhoods? one must ask, is America like any other country out there? socially and economically?

Although I agree the death penalty is a necessary option for rapists and serial killers, it costs more to kill someone then to keep them in jail. The main reason is the many, many years of automatic appeals and motions by the defense lawyers. And if you think about it, these are not costs that can be fairly eliminated.

The "compassionate conservative" view on capitol punishment (like any other kind of punishment or restrictions): It's fine, as long as it's done to OTHERS. Selfishness, cowardice, greed, lack of generosity, narrow mindedness, even hate. These are character traits that will serve you well as a staunch supporter of political conservatism and religious zeal.

There are many more costs to consider in the circumstance of the death penalty, like those in court. Surprisingly enough the most accurate studies in the matter conclude that killers emerge in correlation with the executions carried out; and it prevents a life prisoner from nothing he is already inhibited from. Look, I am not trying to insult you, just do the homework; and until you study your opponent's argument you have nothing.

doesn't it cost more to provide shelter, food, clothes, and care for criminals in jails and prisons for LONG periods of time? it costs less to kill someone than allow them to live in jail for life. I believe "an eye for an eye." The death penalty is the one people fear the most, possibly PREVENTING crimes, if we can eliminate the criminals PERMANANTLY than we are SAVING innocent lives;That is why I belive in the death penalty, so I HAVE done my homework, what about u?

Your views make an emotional appeal I can understand perhaps even more deeply than you yourself can, however you cannot expect them to be respected without a thorough examination of fact. Quite frankly the death penalty is far from the worst sentence any state could provide, its inanely taxing(yes, financially!), and has demonstrated absolutely no positive impact in deterring criminality of any kind. Do your homework, then you may argue as you wish.

no, we need the death penalty, look at the sick bastards who rape and kill little girls and get to spend their life in solitary confinement, suffering no actual punishment, even being a nurse, I STRONGLY agree with the death penalty; its too bad that many ppl get off the death penalty thanks to appeals...we all should have laws like Texas
