I agree in some respects with John's belief that personality has become too emphasized in music, but for me personality really adds a crucial element to music. I love the chili peppers not only cause I love their music but also because I like who they are as people and as a band. For me getting to know the artists through biographies (scar tissue), interviews and other ways makes me appreciate the music and the artist alot more

I love how John emphasises the music and only the music and not the celebrity culture that has blinded the music industry.
Most of my friends ask 'whos cd is this?' when i play John's stuff and the majority of them have never heard of him. His emotion and commitment to beauty is on a level most cannot grasp - very niche and a pleasure to listen to!
