Water covers 71% of the earth's surface. Clean drinking water is essential to life. Without water, life would cease to exist. Yet for these two young girls in Africa - Telma and Joaomond - the only available water is from... a dirty hole in the ground. Dirty, unsafe water.

And they are not alone.

Currently, 1 billion people in Africa and Asia have no clean drinking water.

As a result of diseases from filthy drinking water, 6,000 people - mostly children - die each day.

Clean drinking water is the number one need in the developing world. And helping provide it is one of the most effective ways to improve health and lift people out of extreme poverty.

  • i think it starts with education. some of these people might not know this dirty water is bad for them cause it's all they've known. they should try tocollect rain water in some type of containers to use for drinking(if & when it rains) then if eer they get wells with clean water they should be educated about conserving,& not ever forgetting & drinking out of the water holes they swim in,etc.
