2000 Light Years from Home - Dr Phibes and the House of Wax Equations

An obscure track from an obscure but excellent band. Dr Phibes and the House of Wax Equations (Howard King, Jr, Lee Belsham, Keith York) were active in the northwest of England in the early 1990s, peddling a brand of Hendrix/Doors/Floyd-influenced post-psychedelia.

This cover appeared on "Stoned Again; a Tribute to the Stones" (Imaginary Records 1990). Covers of "LA Woman" and The Who's "Magic Bus" were also staples of any Phibes Gig in the early 90s.

I used to live in NW and saw these loads! May have even seen them at Planet X in Liverpool - can't be sure! Used to work with someone who was dating the drummer too I think.

Cheers for this! I fuckin' loved this band (and still do) and was severely disappointed when they just seemed to 'disappear' roundabout the mid '90s. Of course, it wasn't until a few years later that we found out the real reason why they were no longer functioning as a band!

Of course, Lee & Keith, the drummer and bassist have continued to play in various bands. As for Howard, is he still in jail?
