All Over Down Under by Bill Frakes

Creating "All Over Down Under" required meticulous preparation; cross-continental teleconferences and countless hours spent researching, shooting and editing. Such are the challenges when attempting to capture an entire continent as massive and diverse as Australia, with its sun-scorched landscapes, exotic wildlife, sophisticated urban life and storied indigenous culture. One of the biggest difficulties for Frakes was maintaining his original vision while adapting to each new subject. Following his instincts, this rare breed of visual storyteller arranged each piece into the coherent whole, using the sounds of the aboriginal didgeridoo to fuse such disparate elements as rugby players and ballet dancers into this seamless homage to an amazing country.

  • just a question here, Is the D3s video quality the same from what you get with the D90?

  • Basically they are pretty much the same. Nikon has worked on some issues like rolling shutter etc. and improved the contrast based AF. The D3s also allows you to manually control aperture, exposure time, ISO, ... when shooting videos.

  • Well...it looks like this camara is a little better than my lumix fh20.

  • Excellent job!!! Well done!

  • good photographs, terrible music, low quality video which you should put up a HD one instead.

With photographs involved, I don't think you can call this a film.

  • Nixxer,

The answer is no. Not even close. I was at a workshop sponsored by Nikon Professional Services last night and Frakes showed D90 video and D3s video. It's not even close.

  • @NikonD6 The Nikon D300S has a socket for external mike where the D90 hasn't got it and you will record the handling of the camera and even when you focusing around.

Best mike to use on D300s or even the D3s is the Rode mike if yo don't want to fork out the price of a Bose system.....

  • Excellent job, man! Can I ask what lenses did you use?

  • Beautifully, especially the sky!

  • @ 4:39 ...NICE

  • These are amazing pictures/videos.
