Aaron Baker brakes down a chronology of events surrounding the Coos Bay Railroad extravaganza. Congressman Peter DeFazio has been highly involved in the Nationalization of the 111 mile long segment, stretching from Danebo to Cordes. The railroad was closed in 2007 due to 9 aging tunnels in need of repair, estimated at $7 million. After four years little has changed to the physical appearance of the railroad. With Peter DeFazio's communist (Progressive) perseverance the land has now been signed over to the Port of Coos Bay by Governor Kitzhaber.
It's all a familiar scene of the Port of Tillamook Bay's railroad which was acquired in the same manner. To this day the Tillamook Bay Railroad is out of service due to severe track damage. The track was bought by the port with the help of Oregon State Lottery funds in the same manner as the Coos Bay Railroad. The Tillamook Bay Railroad received federal funding for repairs, but used the money to upgrade facilities and the airport.

  • There is supposed to be a reopening of an old railway in my neck of the woods also.

  • @jimbobubbadj I wonder if its being done the same way?

  • Nice investigative reporting Aaron.

  • @mja2035 We'll see if it opens in October.

  • What a legal robbery.

Money mattered, people don't and the worst is most of the people don't even care.

    *sigh*...good luck...

  • @Srbosloven I don't know if you can call it legal. Only a audit by a true outside party could find that out.

  • CORP sucked all the money out of the line and spent nothing on maintenance. The video shows what CORP thought of Maintenance. When they cut Coos Bay off, they shut down American Bridge and all the south coast lumber mills. They gave the line to the port because the port has the revenue from shipping fees to maintain the line into the future. The line is open for limited shipping, and will be fully open by October, allowing American Bridge and the mills access to the American market.

  • @adb024 yes, that's an accurate statement, but I actually wanted to point the difference between blunt and intellectual criminal that is being done trough the "system".

"They" know very well that most of the people cannot point at this cause as soon and yell THIEF!

  • great video.

As I recall, the Oregon Lottery was originally deemed for "economic development".

  • @1989kirby Thank you, this video took a lot of time to put together.

  • @AR15Truther2 I don't know. Google "Coos Bay Dredging 60 million" and you will find the 60 million is missing too.
