"The population of (Tibetan capital) Lhasa used to be 50,000 to 60,000. Now it is 300,000, of which 200,000 are Chinese," he said, adding that Tibetans were being deprived of an opportunity to learn their native language and monasteries were being politicized under what he called a "cultural genocide."
USA TODAY BEIJING - Government officials on Tuesday downplayed the embarrassing disclosure that China is creating profiles on the 28000 foreign journalists expected to cover next year's Olympics.

  • The carnage in Tibet and in Xinjiang, both regions where the Chinese government has been involved in campaigns of massive ethnic cleansing, have shown the West for the paper tiger that it is and which Mao Zedong scorned a long time ago. It is only nations that have no morality other than a profit motive - and this drives the cowardly silence on China's campaign of mass butchery of ethnic minorities - some of their powerful businesses in China who could silently permit this slaughter

  • I wish Obama or whoever wins in November would just tell the chinese to suck it, you're not getting a penny from us until you know what basic human right are

  • why did tibet not have a modern army to defend itself? China invaded and occcupied Tibet. there is no justification for it but tibet's leaders are criminally incompetent for not ensuring tibet had a modern army.

  • I grew up in China and had been brainwashed by the news and propaganda. The so called Chinese pride is just a political method to unite the people in the political China. People in Tibet may not relate to the majority of Chinese people. Therefore thinking that Tibet should be free does not equal to I don't love China. I used to say that the first thing you do if you love China is to love the Chinese Communist Party, now I can see more clearly as an outsider and see how I had been fooled.

  • did cia use tibet as base to launch operations against china ?if so who in tibet cooperated with cia/usa?

  • Look on the world's first map. Tibet is on there. I wonder why?

  • People who are talking crap about the dalai lama are paid by the Chinese government. Let's see if you say free Tibet in Lhasa

    Tibet is a country.

To see why Tibet did not become part of China during the Mongol Yuan Dynasty

    and

Relations Between The Dalai Lamas of Tibet and the Manchu Qing Dynasty do not show that Tibet was Part Of China
