WW1 was the saddest war in Western history. It gave birth to the wicked ideologies of Fascism, Communism, and Secularism. Had the great war been averted, the second clash never would've occured.

It would sooner or later,as nationalism,became a extremely strong ideology in the XIX century,multi ethnic kings themselves (with access to very extensive genealogies,proving how pathetic and ignorant nationalism was) went with the trend,and supported those ideas,or just remained in silence,with fear of revolution and their removal,most ideological sustainability for a war of extermination was already present in 1900.

@TitaniumPlatnium Actually the UK is not the only country in Europe to have monarchy. Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Monaco, Norway, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Holland all have monarchies.

@TitaniumPlatnium Actually there are a few others left in Europe, but like the United Kingdom, the power of the monarch has been stolen by the power hungary parliments. Alas it is no secret that democratic states seeked to destroy all monarchs with power. That is why Woodrow Wilson had the United States enter the first world war. His objective was to destroy the German,Austro-Hungarian, and Ottoman monarchies and " make the world safe for democracy" .

Oh crap. Be serious, the monarchies of Europe were based on oppressing other nations, it was a central system that took advantage of smaller or less powerful nations in their own interests. Europe's decline is caused by these Empires themselves, after many years of looting from their colonies they found themselves one day with nothing.

Before revolution Russia was one of the five best countries in world and had best economy.
