The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Inc., founded in 2002 and powered by Maddie's Fund, The Pet Rescue Foundation, with support from the ASPCA, is a coalition of more than 150 animal rescue groups and shelters that is working with Animal Care & Control of New York City (AC&C) to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at AC&C shelters. To achieve that goal, the Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, helps its Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) work to their highest potential to increase pet adoptions and spay/neuter rates, with the goal of transforming New York City into a no-kill community by 2015. For more information about the Mayor's Alliance and its participating organizations, please visit http://www.AnimalAllianceNYC.org.
There are so many of us who would love to adopt a companion animal but are prevented by condo/coop rules. So many retired and elderly would benefit from having these animals and animal lives would be saved. Why not have a law that allows all seniors to adopt a homeless animal?

Small steps towards the goal, that is all we can do. The real problem is the over breeding by breeders of all kinds and people who for whatever reason just will not spay/nueter. Anyone who contributes even one puppy or kitten, purebred or "mutt",to the population at this point in time is part of the problem. Breeding needs to stop or be limited until the population is under control.

I am referring to New York City Animal Care and Control, the public shelter. The Alliance helped recruit Boks for the shelter. The shelter is killing over 40%. I support the Alliance.

I don't understand who you are referring to when you say "they." "They" are still killing over 40% and "they" have been refusing animals? Don't get it. The Mayor's Alliance is not a rescue/placement group itself, it is a coalition that is coordinating efforts among NYC (and other area) shelters toward a common goal. They seem to be heading in the right direction.

I like the video and goals, don't get me wrong. But, check out the statistics in their website. They're still killing over 40%. Another thing, they have been refusing animals at the door saying they're full. Again, they have great goals but we need to change reality.
Too all you New Yorkers, why didn't you warn Los Angeles about Boks?!?! Why didn't you tell us he's a liar and a fraud who just spins a good yarn while manipulating the statistics.

I love this video! There is a better way than the old mentality of impound and kill. If you love and care about animals please send this video to every animal lover you know. Plant the seed that there is a better way. Help get people involved in being a part of the solution.

I LOVE it!!! What a wonder way to deal with this issue! SO much more sensible than MSN and traditional Animal Control attitudes. I will forward this video to everyone I can.
THANK YOU to those who care enough.

Out in California today, AB 1634, the petextinction act, was "PUT TO SLEEP. It could come back in 2009 or 2010. Let's hope it's gone for good.
