Rotation of water- Clockwise on the North side, Anticlockwise on the South side and Nothing right on the Equator. The pot of water was kept 20 footsteps North and South for the purpose of this demo. Amazing that how just 20 steps could result in such a significant result! Coriolis Effect at work, due to earth's gravity and roatational motion.

Not just the locals, this also happened when we tried this for ourselves. Also, how do you explain the duststorms that kept kicking up turning clockwise in the south side and anti-clockwise on the north side of the equator at barely a few kilometers' distance frm the Equator.

No, i'm not saying the water spinning thing is totally fake. It will happen, however not at a distance of just 20 footsteps either side of the equator. The effect isn't that clear. I won't go into the details of HOW it's done, but physicists have a calculate this effect, and at just 20 footsteps the effect is negligable.

I'm afraid, these locals were having you on. It cannot be done this close to the equator.

And yes, I know about the Coriolis Force, i'm a physics student myself.

@paulbarrett1984 - No dear Paul, this isnt a gimmick. This happens because of Coriolis force.. Google it. From where did u arrive at a figure of 100 miles?? No such thing..We saw plenty of clockwise sandstorms in the region on the North side, and anti-clockwise ones in the South.. Locals coudln't have conjured those up for "tips"

You realise this is a gimmick right? You have to be about 100 miles either side of the equator to see the water spin in the other direction.

Locals do this for "tips"...
