The time it takes to put it back in varies. I've dislocated my patella four times in my lifetime, all occurring in the year 2011. The first two times, i was able to push it in myself with no problem and continue with my life. The third time, it popped out and as I fell, it popped back in by itself, and left my knee swollen. the fourth time, it went out farther than it had before and it took about five minutes to get it back in.

Y did it take so long to put it back. It me like 5 seconds

13 dislocations later i can say, make sure you have someone slow the patella back into the femoral groove. This will reduce damage to the patella. The sudden movement will cause scars on the surface. The pain/problems will not show until much later in life.
I've dislocated twice...hyperextended it twice...what might happen later in life? I'm 13
