Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori of the Episcopal Church USA clarifies her views on salvation. A partial quote in The New York Times on the subject has upset conservatives.
@biggdad1 God mus be the liar! He made promises in Genesis to the Abrahamic peoples through Hagar and Ismael. Go read it for yourself. The Bishop is correct.
I'm very thankful for this video. I'm looking for a new church, after not going to one for years, and now I know I will definitely stay away from the Episcopal Church. Jesus is Lord and such a wonderful gift of salvation everybody can have. Why is this so hard for people to accept?
Wow! Aside from embodying the apostasy of the Episcopal "church," she then has the nerve, the sheer audacity to suggest that true believers are, if not guilty, than nigh to the Unforgivable Sin of Blaspheming the Holy Ghost by being faithful to the Bible and Christian teaching?!? The subtext of what she says around 1:24 onward is that the only people who may be clearly drifting towards damnation are those people Christians who reject the work of Gandhi as inspired by God.
"I'm not too worried about the mechanism." Then go be a new age polyglot and get away from a Christian congregation. I am specifically focused on the "Mechanism" (the saving grace of Christ) and if she can't be, because she has lost her faith, then she should resign rather than teach her lapsed-faith views.
Religion often appears to be about control... many comments here seem to underline that... Jesus was about compassion and inclusion.... we are responsible for our beliefs and behaviors... and we need to question everything and everyone including ourselves and shoulder our responsibility
When will the New York Times print a retraction if Shori was misquoted? As far as I know, there has been no retraction.

@one4christ7 You forgot to mention John 3:17. That sums up Jesus' mission. He says so Himself!

@AngelWingsVIII "You are too just to tolerate evil; You are unable to condone wrongdoing." Habakkuk 1:13
God is holy, He can not accept our sin, but He loves us, yes!
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus & believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
God DOES love us!
