The top ten things about hard drives you didn't know. This was recorded at Shmoocon 2009. This has some of the top things that come from my classes that I teach all over the country about hard drives and data recovery that most people do not know.

  • So what is the best alternative? By the way, I usually switch off indexing and last access time logging when using NTFS, so I don't really see the disadvantage compared to others..

  • NTFS is very hard on flash drives, it makes a lot of reads and writes and wears them out pretty fast/

  • So are there any performance tests on what best to format f.e. an Intel X25-E SSD to (for Windows use)?

    Is NTFS OK for those, or FAT faster? (I don't have Fat64 as an option for XP64 unfortunately, also, I want a multiboot with a BSD and Linux flavor)
