Rakesh Chaurasia is the nephew and disciple of the legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Adept at playing the popular and folk music, he is equally at home in the Indian classical genre. Despite constant demands by the "Bollywood" industry for his services towards film and stage music, he has not shied away from his ambition to carve a niche for himself in the Indian classical genre. Over the last few years, he has increasingly accompanied Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia on the international classical stage that has helped to hone his skills further. Now, slowly emerging from the shadows of his illustrious uncle, from whom he has imbibed not only the generosity of spirit and humility but total dedication to his craft, he showcases his skills in this first-ever classical album.

  • Here are the raagas played (bhairavi comes back between them), according to my basic knowledge: 5:00: Lalit 5:39: Ahir bhairav 6:27: ? 7:03: Miyan ki malhar 7:33: Jog 8:02: Yaman 8:36: Kirwani 8:59: European classical (fits in Kirwani, it seems) Some knowledgable person could confirm these ragas are actually the ones being played ? What is played at 6:27 ?
  • @shishyupal I can confirm that the Raag played at 6:27 is Bhatiyar from the Marwa Thaat.

    Thanks for watching!
