This is a no frills presentation of the 2008 Valdez air show (Bush class) with scores as were posted on http://www.valdezalaska.org/events/flyIn/flyIn.html

I have to apologize for the substandard quality of the film, for some reason I forgot my tripod at home.

The four place Supercub is competing in this video.
Each person had 2 landings and takeoffs, The best landing and takeoff distances were added together and halved and that was their final score. This video contains the best of the 2 landing/takeoff attempts so as to keep this video under 10 minuets.
The weather was very hot that day. And there was not very much wind, just a very small breeze now and then.
Check my main page for the other airplane class competitions at the 2008 air show.

  • Ok, when and where is this??..I have GOT to come watch, shoot photos/video and mingle...what a GREAT thing to be a part of!!

  • Thanks =)

It takes place in May at the Valdez airport. (usually around the 8 to the 10th)

Also could Google Valdez May Day fly in

Every year it seems like the attendance is almost doubling. There was a lot of airplanes there this year (2009) and that was even though the weather was really bad the day before (or so I was told), so a lot of people flying in had to turn back.

  • what is dq????

  • DQ stands for Disqualification.

If the front/main wheels touched down before the white line, then the landing distance was counted at maximum distance (I think max that year it was 400 feet.).

Their main wheels were allowed to land ON the line for this year of competition. (the previous year, if the front wheels touched the line at all it was counted as a disqualification for your landing distance)
