On 4/1, hundreds of people with disabilities, seniors, and home care attendants are gathered for a rally, march, press conference and cabinet visits in Harrisburg despite rain to demand for justice. United for the Consumer Workforce Council!
We are asking Governor Rendell to build the Consumer Workforce Council: a state board of people with disabilities and seniors, who will be charged to protect the rights of consumers to choose and direct their own long term care in their own homes and in their communities; while working with home care attendants that help make the independence for thousands of Pennsylvanians possible, to give them the right to have a voice to advocate for health care benefits and a living wage, so they can support their families.

These folks depend heavily on the services they receive from their home care attendants. Therefore I was not surprised that the disabled were advocating for better wages, health care and of course the dignity that comes with receiving quality sustainable and dependable home health care.
Consumers and attendants united, It's a beautiful (and reciprocal) thing my friends.
Go CWC!!!

I was incredibly moved by the passion and sincerity of the disabled folks who worked hard on that cold and rainy day to secure for themselves quality home care.
