Hojtoojutsu is based on the ways nobility in the former orinetal states (mainly Japan i think) were tied. It was meant to disarm anyone taken prisoner, but as tradition would have it, the way they were tied showed how high they stood on the ladder of society.
Of course the main thing was to render them unable to escape, without causing their death before they could have been interrogated.

@alexanderlaskin and in a prisoner of war, or regular prisoner, situation (for example), the people being tied would be kept steady by other soldiers/guards

中共槍斃人就是這種綁法
Japanese would use hemp/jute rope not nylon synthetics.

@atar89 Yes, I know it. But it doesn't matter what rope to use in training process.

Is Jujutsu and hojohutsu interrelated in some way? Why the other kids in the backround practicing Jujutsu?

@greekfriend1 We in our martial arts organization are trying to introduce elements of hojo-jutsu into ju-jutsu training for some higher degrees.

i still think that no one, in the present world, would ever subject to being tied. No fight bacck? Irreal.

@SwimandEatCake There are many very effective techniques (painful holds, for example) that allow skillful person to hold his/her opponent in position for successful tying up, especially if using hojo techniques.
