To preserve important memories beyond the physical.
On the 19th of August, 1943, three Combat Wings attempted to attack strategic airfields spread throughout the occupied Netherlands and Belgium. A B-17 Flying Fortress trying to make its way back to England was hit by enemy fire while engaged in battle and crashed near Rozenburg, South Holland, The Netherlands. Spiralling downwards, the aircraft broke into two and took the lives of four crewmen still onboard. Six others managed to bail out on time.
Among the survivors of this fatal crash was Leonard Spivey. At 87 years, he still annually visits the American Cemetery of Margraten, to honour the much too short lives of Walter J. Buran, Arthur L. Everett, Wilbert G. Jones, Eugene A. Sabourin, the latter of which is buried in Massachusetts, USA.
This video is to preserve the memories of these men.
