*********
Hello. Its Larva agains next 3do game, Heroes2 this time. I'm doing a run for Succesion Wars campaing, but then I will go through Price of Loyalty as well.

Few notes:

1. This game is diffrent than Heroes1, you will need more tactics and regular game is generally harder. You have more choices, more random opportunities and this makes game more intresting than first part. The campaing is A LOT easier than Heroes1 campaing, especially if you are driving good way. I'm showing here the best way of beating campaing, and this is helping ogres instead of necromancers (scenario 4instead of 3). Also, I'm taking addtional scenario 7 that gives "dragon allaince".

2. This game is a lot more detailed than Heroes1. Here, it really pays to have many heroes travelling around land, because there are a lot of places to visit. Some of them yield creatures, some other bonuses. Its not like in Heroes1: open land, resources, monsters, towns and mines. There are much more possibilities.

3. There are six castles, each one is good. There are something like three "classes" of towns. Knight and Barbarians have weak forces, weak magic, but they are easy to develop and their forces still do good damage. Warlock and Wizard are pure spellcasters with very strong forces, especially the last units - Dragons and Titans are unbeatable in numbers. Third class is "weird" castles - they have mid magic and good forces, but they are oriented in some ways. For example, sorceress is based on shooting units, their walkers and flyers are weak. While necro is based on thousands of skeletons. Skeleton is best 1st level unit and in good numbers they are doing thousands of damage.

4. Hero is offered by some secondary skills. Some of them are good, while others are crap. Wisdom, Logistics, Estates, Archery are good skills, while for example Scouting, Navigation are crap.

5. There are much more buildings to build in town, but not so much are really useful. You have to develop both arrow towers and moat as every other structure, costing 1.500 gold +5 ore for each tower and bare 750 gps for moat. It means that you have to pay 3750 gp for full defending castle (or 5250 if you are a knight and use "fortification" addon).

Castles are easier to take than in Heroes 1, in which you could defend the city with few shooters. This is because offensive magic is more popular and AI beseigeing castle will often spam you with lighting bolts/magic arrows/cold rays till you are dead. Also, two towers and garrison are destructible, so if expert balistic guy attack you, you are without firepower after few turns. In H1, main tower was indestructible.

Scenario 01 "First Blood"

This is easy but frustrating scenario. Its easy for newbies, which are guarded safe by trolls. But its annoying for pro players which would want to attack enemy within first turns and cannot do that. I'm in the second stack.

Basically, all is to fully develop town, gather army and put down enemies. Consider splitting army (as I did), because there are 3 really weak enemies and you don't need to have superior army.

As necromancer, the best is to grow your skeletons as much as possible, but.. its not required in this scenario. Enemy is so weak, don't waste your time growing 500+ skeletons, they won't take a part in battle.

Its worth to take gold mine on north, but it depends on monster which is placed near mine - sometimes they are dickheads like steel golems, while sometimes there will be war trolls. It really depends, but 10 bone dragons will handle every monster that will spawn near mine.

Don't waste time capturing unuseful mines, you won't need them.

  • i tried both maps on impossible and havent managed to finish them.

the pyramid one i got to fourth week with barbarian and I had 4 bone draggy army but then warlock came and wiped out all of my cities. i think that pyramid is possible to finish on impossible, but only with barbarian. you have an unguarded gold mine near starting city and another city on west from desert, to overtake on day 3 when you join armies from two starting heroes. (to follow)

  • @LarvaExoteech

    (part2)

but the problem with pyramid is starting with barbarian which is the most nerfed city in whole heroes2 while knight city being the best.

i tried also pandemonium and here i think that starting with sorceress is the best way to win it as there are two piles of wood and ore which you can take with starting heroes and build mage guild lv one on first day of game. if you manage to get magic arrow, (to follow)

  • @LarvaExoteech

    (part 3)

with magic arrow and 30 mana you can wipe out 12 heroes walking on your starting land, while having mg guild lv 1 allows you to buy elves and druids at almost no cost. the problem I havent passed is to gather 10 gems for unicorns, because player from the south came with strong army and put me onto game over state :)

thats too bad, I'll try those maps more, but for now I have to live with Heroes and Lost Continents map completed on impo with knight and sorceress :)

    (part 4)

and about necro I must disagree about power of vampire lords. they are indeed powerful in H3 but weakings in H2 (at least they can drain hps from undeads/golems in h2 :) ).

the power of necro are skeletons, with necro expert you can gather 2000 skeletons in 2 months fighting all critters and even with necro weak attack stat they can slay 15 titans in one lucky shot.

knight is still the best of all cities as it has very strong and cheap units.

  • @LarvaExoteech

    (part 5)

the knight power comes from a few facts - you need only wood/ore and 30 crystals to build all dwellings. their units have few hps but knight defense eliminates this problems (120 sprites from equally-leveled sorceress dealed 40 damage points to my 20 defense crusaders killing not even one). not to mention calvary ultra-fast speed. also, crusaders score x2 to undeads, single paladin is capable of killing 40 skeletons, two vamp lords or two power liches in one turn :)

  • Very slow...My record for this scenario - 16 days. It is possible to win in 8-9 days...

  • You are better at homm1 than homm2 :P Play every castle with Barbarian heroes, they get archery&logistics very easy, and their uber attack is yummy.

Go for vamps, always. first week 8 vamps can be split to handle up to level 4 shooters, or even 5 in some cases. Next week 13 vamp lords can take on level 6 creeps so you get goldmines/uber artifacts instantly.Early micro is critical so improve that a bit. Btw very cool that you've UL'ed these vids to YT.

    Pandemonium/Pyramid on impossible next? :D

  • nice video, slow gameplay

  • good player lol, I finished all the quests(including the extras) but I don't think I did it this fast...

  • fuck you this video so ugly and bad
