The football game between the University of Texas (UT) and the University of Oklahoma (OU) is a long-time tradition at the State Fair of Texas. The game, played at historic Cotton Bowl Stadium, is called the AT&T Red River Rivalry. (The Red River forms the border between Texas and Oklahoma.)
Four years ago, Southwest Airlines started a new event leading up to the game ... the Pigskin Plane Pull. Fans of the two schools (Employees and Friends of Southwest) compete to see who can pull an 83,000 pound Boeing 737 fifty yards the quickest. The team with the fastest time wins roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines and plenty of other prizes, including a chance to win tickets to the game.

It has become quite an event, as you'll see.

This past Saturday, Oklahoma won a fiercely-contested 28-21 victory over Texas. But who won the really big event ... the Pigskin Plane Pull ... this year? Well ... you'll see that, too.

  • actually, i personally think southwest has a pretty good safety record, due to the amount of airplanes they have, they haven't had many crashes

  • That many people pulling not impressive.

I saw the Strongest man pull a 767 solo.

  • Southwest has only 737 in their fleet today, and compare Southwest safety record to let´s say American Airlines. So far Southwest has 0 fatal accidents with passengers.

American Airlines...500+ people to this date and counting. AA must have one of the worse crash/accident statistic in the world. And it´s not getting any better. How AA is still in business and that people actually fly with them and their old crappy fleet and lousy service is beyond me. Southwest for me or nothing.

  • @thehahacac boeing 737

  • What kind of plane was this?

  • @singaporepilot jetBlue has it better...

But Southwest has never had a real crash... nor have they had any passenger deaths... but a plane did kill someone one the ground after it overran the runway [ because of icy conditions ]

  • if airlines had the money, this is how taxiing planes would be done like this ...

If slavery still existed, American airlines would be taxiing like this...

And im supposing this is a Boeing 737 ?

  • ha u should see mariusz pudzianowski's plane pull video..thats what i call a strong man

  • I've been a part of an event like that here in Milwaukee for the last 10 years with Midwest (now Frontier). What a hoot. It's called the Bob & Brian Plane Pull and you can find on YouTube on my channel along with all sorts of flying stuff. I'm Pdiddy21154
