Brighton Beach Memoirs is a semi-autobiographical award-winning comedy by Neil Simon, written as the first chapter in what is known as his Eugene trilogy. It's set in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, New York, in 1937. It's a coming-of-age comedy that focuses on Eugene Morris Jerome, a Jewish American teenager who experiences puberty, sexual awakening, and a search for identity while also dealing with the dynamics of the cast of strong characters whom are his extended family.
