so this is fine for french horn

have you ever heard of the "split a quarter" exercise? Basically you put a quarter between your lips, and press them together, as if trying to split the quarter... does this work? I've only heard about it from one teacher.

Thanks a lot, I've been looking for a way to increase my range by 3 - 4 tones, so I'm hoping this will help :) But is it okay if I do the exercise at school, and then come home and play a couple of hours later?

@ebjazz Are you supposed to push your jaw out?

i heard that this is bad but im not sure...is it?

@DameSmiffTV Hi :) If your embouchure has endurance, a decent range, a good sound, why isn't good? Please don't listen other guys. Keep on playing and good work!

My lips are too big and i have no choice but to use my teeth, or is there a choice? and what is it?
My pencil droops when I'm into 2 minutes. Should I still continue?

@jerrykroth No. Go as long as you can hold it. Remember to work up to 2 min.

Is this works for horn player? If when I play, my instrument doesn't pararel to the ground. Should I put the pencil pararel to the ground as well?

Question: I play mellophone (in a collegic band) with braces and my range is decent. But a fellow trumpet player noticed my embouchure was iffy and referred me to this video. Now my question is do braces have an effect on this excercise at all??
