St. Catherine's Monastery at the base of the traditional Mount Sinai is the oldest monastery in the world. It is occupied today by Greek Orthodox Monks, which as somewhat like the Coptic. This is a famous site believed by some to have been visited by the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.....overcoming Christian Jewish Muslim Moslem Islamic Mythology

  • umm...you know that st. Antony's monastery is the oldest in the world right?? not st. Catharine's

  • You think so?

  • There's some new important finds in Saudi Arabia pertaining to Mt. Sinai & the 40 year wandering. An 8 year investigation by a family documented a mass grave near the mountain in question, plus almond trees, fig trees, quail that still land there, the massive split rock with water erosion, the oldest known menorah inscription, the giant golden calf altar with inscriptions, remains of the 12 pillars, & Bedouin tradition confirming it, etc, etc. Something to consider.

  • I have met with Jim and Penny Caldwell. Interesting presentation indeed, but there are some things I would have my reservations about. When I spoke to Jim, all he wanted to discuss was a search for gold from a fleet of ships Solomon is said to have owned. He seemed strictly interested in the money. Something didn't feel right about aspects of it.

  • @SolomonSeries Well I don't know if that's documented, but what is documented is the fact that the archaeological relics described in the Torah exist in Arabia and are attested to by many independent eyewitnesses, (incl. professionals) and are documented in great detail. Even if the Caldwell's were interested in making a living from this, it does not make these major discoveries go away. I hope the Lord blesses them as he did Solomon so they can get their message out more effectively. Blessings!

  • I admire Jim and Penny, because when their information was mis-used by someone else they did not blow the cover on the fella that abused it. It is unfortunate though when folks take the short financial route to quick gain and compromise their ethics. Jim and Penny waited a very long time to come out with their findings. I greatly admire their patience.
