Obadiah's Cassey Dare shows you how to install the second layer of cement board on a wall to reduce clearances to combustibles. Part 6 of 8
Please note* It is the air space that makes this work, not the cement board on the wall.
SIMPLY ADDING CEMENT BOARD TO A COMBUSTIBLE WALL DOES NOT REDUCE CLEARANCES ! ! !
This method is one way to safely reduce your clearances to combustible framing inside your wall by providing a way for air to flow up the wall using natural convection. Please refer to your local building codes for your woodstove or cookstove installation.
Being a firefighter myself, I am doing these videos, so folks can know how to do things correctly. This installation is in my daughters cabin, so safety is a major concern.
More info on this subject can be found on www.hearth.com
