This is a debate that took place at Palo Alto Community College. The moderator is Dr. Dorthy Haecker, the theist is Tanner, non-theist Alex.

People only say that Atheism is a religion because it is a belief. Anytime you are on one side or the other of a philosophical argument you have a belief as to weather something is true or not true. If you have "no belief" you would be "agnostic".

i.e. You BELIEVE Thor is not the God of the universe. If you have "no belief" you would not be able to say "Thor is NOT the God of the universe", you would not be able to say anything...

Well, actually i borrowed heavily from Sam Harris's The end of faith and letters to a christian nation, but I've also been a keen fan of Dawkins as well. Don't own christopher hitchens God is not great book, but Will soon..

Where do you live? If you live in san antonio I'll set up a meting with yah, and see if i can arrange a debate. I'M NOT PROMISING ANYTHING. Make it clear. i don't have significant pull or anything, but a mere recommendation.

Well, if your one of the young earth creationist i wold just say that this certainty you have of evolution being false. This evidence which apparantly your great genius and no one else can understand. SHould be published in a peer reviewed paper and you are siting on a golden ticket! You would be more famous than darwin himself. You would be worth millions upon millions, but i have a feeling you don't have this ticket. Just a hunch.

TO be honest there few and far between a theist who even know's what they believe themself.

I have to be honest; I haven't met, but maybe 5 or 6 (4 of which were my professors) that could make a coherent argument that was even challenging and not a regurgitation of something from the poll pit that is easily refuted in a few sec's

WHat i was trying to say was that atheism isn't an assertive claim yet a reactionary claim.

In the same way your not a a-bigfootist, because you don't believe in bigfoot.

Your an atheist in respects to every other god that has ever been conjured up.

( ISLAM) it will surprise you and you will be passion of it

You can search for the Islam thru internet or reading some books

You will lose nothing

If you want to know meaning of love and soul peace read about this religion

Lets make it simple...Logically, would you agree that everything must have a beginning? I assume YES. Scientifically, explain to me how anything can be created out of absolutely nothing. There lies the hole in your theroy.

Diverting the question to where did God come from is not an answer. The question is not an infinite regress unless you apply the same logical rules to God as you do to science.

Regardless, the question had nothing to do with God as I am making no attempt to compare the two theories; the question only concerns the foundation of YOUR theory.
