MARK WILKINSON

A striking mix of haunting vocals, infectious melodies and poetic lyrics has left Sydney based singer/songwriter Mark Wilkinson's music firmly imprinted in the minds of his growing fan base. Marks performances carry a passion and intensity that strives for an emotional connection and reaction from his listeners.

Mark's career began as a solitary bedroom composer. Despite learning the cello and piano at a young age, it was not until his university years that Mark began writing music on the guitar. A reluctant performer, his first live show came at an Open Mic night in Sydney in early 2005 after much prodding from an enthusiastic flat mate. Since then Mark has played hundreds of live shows, moulding and adapting a sound that is now steadily emerging onto the forefront of Sydney's live music scene. Mark's growing momentum and live reputation has seen him headline shows across much of the East Coast as well as supporting the likes of Johnny Diesel, Sarah Mcleod, Bernie Hayes and Damien Leith.

Mark's debut EP release, Cellophane Life, has already received strong critical acclaim and provides a snapshot of his sound and songwriting style. Mark returns to the studio in 2008 to complete work on his highly anticipated follow up release before embarking on his first tour of the UK.
