why do you guys have to create such arguments over silly things. I am a Penn State fan, but regardless of who thinks they should be 'Linebacker U', shouldnt both sides at least consider you are talking about the same conference, which represents the conference well. Ohio State has had some decent Linebackers in the last few years, but so has PSU. Between both teams, they are always dominating the collegiate awards for finalists for those defensive positions.

Both teams have great line-backers.

Next year Navarro Bowman will be the best line-backer in the Big Ten. Sean Lee may be as well, if he can recover from that injury.

AJ Hawk was always my favorite from OSU.

Ok i'm going to tell all of you how it is. I'm From West Virginia and i'm a Penn State fan ok? And they are defiantly better at grooming there linebackers than OSU. But PSU doesn't have Standout linebackers. What I mean by that is that Penn States Linebackers have a better defense to back them up. OSU on defense REALLY depends on a good linebacker which makes them standout more because they don't have a tremendous defense to back them up.

Katzenmoyer = season / career ending injury

Carpenter = emerging

Hawk = Pro Bowler, was the leader tackler for the Packers in his first few years, now with the 3-4 in place his position shifted.

Adding to this, if I had to make a comment about a difference in technique, I'd give the edge to Penn State. Ohio State has had and does have some great athletes playing as linebackers, but there are times when I've seen them miss easy tackles. Perhaps that's not their fault, but I'd like to see both position coaches and players commit more to the basics of the position.

I'm not going to say that Ohio State has not had some great players at linebacker. However, unless I see an Ohio State player produce at a high level in the NFL for several years the same way that many of Penn State's linebackers have, I cannot say that the Buckeyes linebacker tradition is starting to resemble Penn State's tradition.
