Launch of Phase II - The Big Uneasy

In March 2011, Harry Shearer will launch Phase II of the promotion for The Big Uneasy beginning in Dallas and DC, followed by an aggressive schedule of screenings all across the nation. Mr. Shearer, longtime supporter of and advisor to Levees.org, debuted The Big Uneasy at theaters nationwide at the Fifth Anniversary of the federal flood. But even though the facts about the terrible flooding are clearly explained in the movie, mainstream media still clings to a sentimental, simplistic and false first impression of the flooding. Thus Phase II will be launched to continue the real story of how that terrible flooding five years ago was the product of design and construction flaws in a levee system that Congress ordered the US Army Corps of Engineers to build to protect New Orleans from hurricane storm surge.

Here in Indiana (and I'm sure in other states), the Army Corps of Engineers built lakes and used existing roads for boat ramps. When they realized their mistake, they rewrote the manual and grandfathered out existing problem areas. My teenage grandson is dead, drowned in his car, because the road he mistakenly chose went directly into a lake. His was the 3rd death at that location, yet the Corps, the state, no one took responsibility. We had to force the state to even put up signs and lights.

Harry Shearer truly portrays what happened in New Orleans. the plan for development thanks to Waganer architects is awesome. If nothing else I sure hope this brings the improvements we need. Dorian Bennett

New Orleans' devastation was not caused by mother nature or by New Orleanians and it is not fair so many people believe those USACE sponsored lies. The reason why New Orleans needs the truth to be known is that the engineers rebuilding the flood protection are the same engineers federal courts found guilty, but not accountable for their gross engineering negligence that caused the damage. Unlike MMS after the Gulf oil disaster or NASA after shuttle disasters, the Corps has not been reformed.
