@2E4N - In NY, equipment for Auxiliary Police Officers vary. Some municipalities allow Auxiliaries to carry everything a regular officer does including fire arms, and some allow them to carry nothing more than a radio. My Department allows me to carry OC spray and a straight baton, as well as handcuffs, a radio, bullet resistant vest, etc.

I am an Auxiliary with another police service in Ontario. Auxiliaries are not allowed to carry firearms or OC spray (pepper spray) because they are considered prohibited weapons in Canada. We carry the ASP baton, a note book, handcuffs and keys, flashlight, hand held radio, medical gloves with a cpr mouth guard, and I also carry a knife with a seatbelt cutter and glass breaker. Basically we are issued everything a sworn officeris issued except for the firearm and the magazines and holders.

@Remettaire099 NYPD Auxiliaries are not allowed to carry firearms, nor do they receive the training. However, they are authorized to carry a straight baton as their last resort. Also, they are allowed to carry handcuffs while on- and off-duty.
