@telemetry9 i agree to a point. but if you have a hard drive upwards of 350GB I would say it is worth it for a £15 outlay on an enclosure.

I NEED A BONER!!!

ok but how do you take it out?

I'm not sure these are worth it. Better sell your old 3.5 hard drive as they are far noiser than the 2.5 external drives that require no external power brick. These tiny external 2.5 drives are faster than you might imagine even with usb 2.0 and take their power from the usb only.
I bought an 80gb one that looks very smart and best of all - completely silent and far more power efficient. Brand new CNM drive from top rated seller for only £17.99 including del. Great with SSD boot drive.

this seems striaghtforward but what are all these ide cable sata cables for if you can justt transfer through a regular usb one ?
Does it just come doen to speed or is sata better than say ide at trying to recover data from an old hard drive ( what im trying to do )

Could you run a OS from off it? And can you get them for Sata HDD's?

@IIUKBlitzII Some you can run a OS on and there should be some enclosures that support SATA.

Do laptop hard drives require power supply? I have just noticed that a laptop hard drive does not come with a power jack...

They do require power, there may be a different connector.
