I feel a little better mentally and physically after listening to the music of Richard Wagner.

Sometimes I almost feel exhausted after listening to this. But a good exhausted if you know what I mean.

They are both wonderful works of art. So as long as society does not slip into another Dark Age, we can enjoy both.

Not sure where the idea came from but Wagner wanted to depict the sound of dwarves working with their hammers and anvils.

Full length would be about 2+3.5+3.5+4 = 13 hours.

I wonder if there was a set of 78s of this version at the Berghof.

A difficult question to answer, but they are both laced with irony.

Bugs is the greatest! The fact that we're even discussing a cartoon made in the 1950s shows the brilliance of Looney Tunes/Merry Meoldies :)

Which is more ironic? - that a significant piece of music created over a hundred years ago is attributed to a cartoon? Or that a 60-yr old cartoon still permeates our culture to this day?! ;-D

I always thought as a kid growing up that Looney Tunes wrote the song. Epic fail there. However, you can't listen to this and not think "with my spear and magic helmet" by Elmer followed by Bugs pointing sarcastically and whispering to the side of his guarding hand "magic helmet??!!"

Perhaps you should get a Cliff Notes type publication for the The Ring Cycle so the publication might help you to avoid thinking too much about this work of art and watching too much of it in one sitting. The producers of the BECKETT and EL CID films had INTERMISSION periods installed in them. I believe those periods helped make those films more profitable. Circumstancial evidence supports my opinion so far.

This work was the portal through which I discovered a love for classical music. When I first heard this back in my 'head-banger' days my first reaction was 'OMG, this stuff is heavy metal. Literally!' and I was hooked. And I've never tired of listening to this.
