I know what you mean, all these theorists who sit in their armchairs hissing and tsking. They haven't been to a war zone and think that war can be condensed into religion/ideology or what not. You're absolutely right Nephilim145, the West AND the East makes and sells guns to other nations....that was my point. It's not ONLY the West doing so (as implied by the original poster mixmatrosis). In nearly every photograph or video of third world fighters, you see AKs and RPGs in their hands. Saying "the West should stop producing and selling them" (as mixmatosis did) is an extremely one sided argument to make don't you think?

do you know how easy it is to make an AK? I mean China, Eastern and Western Europe, I'm sure the US, Israel makes an updated model called the Galil etc. Don't get me wrong there is a butt load of AKs but how many of them are made by the Kalishnakov manufacturing plant?
