This interesting little gadget was used by RCA in a lot of their radios spanning dozens of years. The "Tuning Eye" is an Electron-Ray tube designed to assist the listener in tuning a radio station to the point of greatest signal strength. It was invented by Allen Du Mont in the early thirties, and sold to RCA. The goal is to try and align the top and bottom green lines together.
That's incredibly neat! Looks like it brings some fun to fine tuning.

I've never seen a tuning eye like this. What is the tube number?

Is it a center strength & signal strength tube? Seems to need an alignment.

wow thats cool. When I was a kid we had a large Motorola radio in a consol that housed a recordplayer and TV (circa 1950?). The radio had one of these "green tuning eyes". It was a great idea to be able to visually see when you are tuned in properly.
