  • What I believe is good is the no-bullhook free contact method. There's no domination. The elephant is free to ignore a request without the fear of being hooked or punished. Some trainers believe that the bullhook is needed, but it isn't. PAWS has seen better results using the no bullhook free contact method. The bullhook, even if it guides elephants, can be replaced with a flexible bamboo shoot or a keeper's hands.

  • Please don't use bullhooks on elephants! I know there are many trainers who are good and love the elephants, and they don't use the bullhook as a weapon. But even these keepers could misuse it occassionally. And though the training method used at your Zoo involves good praise, it also involves dominating a wild animal.

  • Cute little elephant.

  • so cute. :)
