I'm annoyed that I lost a unit of vets in close combat to Tau Fire Warriors (I took out two, they took out my squad, and I had initiative)

my friends are all treadheads, so I'll go with what they've got; lemans and manticores

@elesararwos I've played powerblobs, I've played infantry company, I've played mixed company,. I've played mechvets, and just about every other build but aircav. Vets on foot are terrible generally, but an army not built around mechvets is still perfectly viable. Tanks and artillery have always been the vital units for the IG, and always will be. There's where the real strength lies.

maybe mechanized Guard, but I play full-on infantry as a footslogger infantry nut

I need tanks and artillery... but I always shoot off the board or lose my tanks the first turn

@elesararwos Are you seriously saying Guard vets are underpowered? Because mechanized veterans are by a long margin one of the absolute most effective and cost-effective units in the game. I brought a few units to a tournament and they wrecked house, and that's not just me.

I can only give cloaks to Guard Veterans and Stormtroopers, and then Carapace Armor is better

It's too expensive and Veterans got nerfed so badly it's not even funny anymore. They're supposed to be a little less reliable than Stormtroopers but they get slaughtered like regulars now

I used to slaughter marines with regular Guard wearing cloaks in good positions but now it's just horrible

@elesararwos really.. I used camo cloaks on my scouts and they kick ass... 3+ cover safe.. 2+ if i go to ground..
