Ok. So this blade is going to USA, and I was requested to "dirty it up" a bit so that there would be no doubt its a user and not a collector. So.. given the go ahead I tested the blade out. I needed to do this because I sold all of the ones I made and didn't have a tester blade. I commenced to beat down on various grades of wood for 35 minutes, I then also tested it on light foilage and all sorts of other things. Problem was that editing all that was too hard.
It was faster and easier to finish up with an indoor finale and post that instead.
Enjoy.

  • Man, you weren't kidding when you wrote "beat down" in the title. Cleaned up right nice though. Very cool video.

  • @elpidi0526 thanks Matt. Since doing that 1 hour bash test (yes.. 1 hour) I've thinned the convex down a tad as its overbuilt, and adjusted the balance so that its more lively like the prototype. Its feeling pretty good, and the owner is happy with the testing and wants me to try some other things.

  • I was hoping youd start hacking at that damn tough oar head when you had it in the vice :)

  • @traderjoes hehe.. Shrapnel is a nightmare..

  • Very impressive, I'm surprised how little stropping it takes to get it back.

  • @mortarish It all comes down to good steel and appropriate edge geometry on the blade side. On the user side you need to make sure your cuts are clean and that the edge is aligned correctly with the direction of the blades motion.
