As part of a multimedia story on the rise of gourmet beer, I spent an afternoon at Beer Table in Park Slope Brooklyn. At Beer Table, you can order duck stew and a $95 bottle of beer from Italy. Votive candles light the room and the wooden communal tables squeeze in as many patrons as possible. The owner of Beer Table has a simple theory for his restaurant and that's people like good food and good beer. Of course, most of the beer is reasonably priced and compares to what a wine bar would charge for crushed grapes. Visit www.townsendjournalist.com/beer for more.
