Shidoshi John Manniel is the founder of the Kar-Do-Jitsu-Ryu Karate Federation. He has trained thousands of Martial Artists over the years and was well known for his work with troubled youth in his native NY, where he was a decorated Police Officer. Shidoshi still oversees the many schools in his federation to this day.

  • Birds of pray were the favorite thing for shihan Manniel to name his Black belts. Although i never acquired one to my deepest regret, i'm glad that i spent enough time with him in those days to have some of those bird of pray, retain their power with in me.........thanks for everything much respect John....

  • We moved to cali in 86 after getting married, but that school lives-in my heart & i never have forgotten those three hour classes, that always worked me out to near exhaustion...Cali schools don't compare to those early years in Brooklyn. As My daughter & I went through the ranks out here in NTKDA, My Style always stood out, the Golden Eagle reigned in Me, & all were weary of my hands technique.

  • I was a student of shihan John (the best martial arts teacher I ever had) Manniel, 7th dan, back in the early to 80ees, In Brooklyn NY. I attended both schools at the time on 41st & 5th ave & later on 44th st. those were great days & kar-do-jitsu-ryu gave me the foundation in my technique that i carrie with me to this very day

  • Wow it has been so long since I have even thought of John. I have only met him a couple of times. I took Kar-Do-Jitsu-Ryu in NJ under Mike Tracy. If any one knows where Mike Tracy might be, I would love to get in touch with him again.

  • @geminilibra No. He moved back to Brooklyn in August of this year

  • Wow, I was a student of Johns when he had his first school in Brooklyn I believe in Sunset Park, 8th avenue, between 42nd and 43rd Street. WOW... I have not even thought about that in so long..

  • I recognized Willy "the professor" and his thick glasses.

  • I was also one of John's students at the time the scenes were recorded at the dojo. 8th ave. between 54 and 55 street. Thanks to John I made something of myself and the man had more confidence in me then my own father! Today I run a thai and kickboxing school in croatia, and I also have an mma section, thanks John.
