that's right. But the problem is in Japan, the real money is in TV, not movies. Their TV production is 5 times the size (in terms of gross revenue) of their film industry. That's why I say the most famous actors in Japan will not make it big outside of Asia.

To me, there are reasons as to why Takuya Kimura's international career hasn't quite taken off. 1st, he needs to leave SMAP and SMAP's svengaliesque management company, Johnny's, ASAP and go solo. 2nd, he should drastically scale back the silly weekly TV shows he's in. 3rd, he should focus on a film career and give the J-doramas a break for the time being. 4th, he needs to improve his English-speaking ability, which is a major problem for many Japanese entertainers.

Kimura doesn't NEED to make it internationally. He has plenty of fame in Asia. But just so you know, he'll be in a movie called "I come with the rain" (which is an english movie) and from the 2 lines I hear in the trailer, his english is just FINE.
